Data sources
The terrain comes from USGS elevation data and the mapped features from Yellowstone National Park GIS. The LiDAR survey was flown in September–October 2020.
Drainage paths are calculated from downhill slopes in the elevation grid. Some may be dry gullies; they have not been surveyed as streams. Map lines follow the displayed land surface. The terrain does not include measured pool or river depths. Tree crowns are estimated from LiDAR and do not provide a species inventory or a count of every tree.
Coordinates use UTM zone 12N (EPSG:32612), with elevations in NAVD88. In the 3D view, x points east, z points south and y points up; one unit equals one meter before vertical exaggeration.
The data manifest lists source files, processing steps and file checksums.
This view covers the Midway area, not the full watershed. Survey dates and simulation details are listed above.
