Science and scope

How the model works and where its evidence is limited.

Rendered layer

This output has a connection to the rendered scene. That connection does not establish field accuracy.

Approximations

Each calculation has stated assumptions. Numerical checks and field validation are recorded separately.

Research extension

Planned work. It produces no results in this snapshot.

What is measured, mapped, or authored?

Mapped geography defines the terrain footprint, waterways, thermal outlines, and paths. Terrain includes authored local geometry.

Prescribed forcing supplies upstream river flow and temperature. This scenario uses authored meteorology and lateral sources.

Authored parameters include channel widths, submerged depths, ecological rates, and many placements. Unknown uncertainty remains unquantified.

Model outputs include river temperatures, water stocks, and ecological diagnostics. Scientific claims remain unaccepted pending field evaluation.

MODEL SCOPE

Yellowstone at Midway

The model connects river heat transport, hydrothermal processes, snow and soil water, and ecological responses around Midway Geyser Basin and the Firehole River.

Inputs and interpretation

Geographic inputs define the mapped channel and terrain. Upstream discharge and temperature are prescribed. Channel widths, submerged depths, ecological rates, and many local parameters are authored.

Equations and exchange definitions describe the model structure. Conditional exchanges depend on the selected configuration. The river view replays saved numerical results; its playback controls change viewing time.

Scientific scope

Numerical conservation checks do not establish field accuracy. Local ecological forecasts, organism counts, and submerged bathymetry remain unvalidated. Unknown uncertainty remains unquantified.

Data are extracted from the checked model generation selected by the Yellowstone environment. The snapshot updates when the site is rebuilt.

RENDERED ENVIRONMENT

Grand Prismatic overlook

Recorded Godot view from the Grand Prismatic overlook with thermal water, mineral ground, trees, and hills.

A saved view recorded from the Godot environment. Mapped landforms and thermal outlines coexist with authored vegetation, material appearance, and placements.
